Many of you have probably heard in the media about the cyberattack on JBS, a Brazilian corporation and the biggest meatpacker in the world that controls a huge amount of the beef, chicken, and pork industries.
What we haven’t heard is how dangerous one corporation controlling a large percentage of our food system is.
During “normal” times, JBS and corporations like them have taken over our farm and food industries putting family farmers out of business and extracting wealth from our communities, and now, during a number of challenging times (e.g. pandemic and cyberattacks), they have shown how centralized control of are food threatens our food security. All the while, JBS is making BILLIONS.
What do we do about it? Demand that our elected representatives actually REPRESENT! First things first, enact an agribusiness merger moratorium and break up the corporate monopolization of the livestock industry.
